Bath books are great when you can’t seem to get your little one to sit in the bath. It’s always around the time when they can sit up on their own that they start protesting bath time.

It’s funny, because kids are fascinated with water – they love to play with the stuff, but when it’s bath time, they fear for their lives! That’s where bath books come in. They keep your child engaged and help them forget that they’re taking a bath.

Of course, they might start to get bored of the same old bath book, so it’s up to you to change them up a bit from time to time. There are tons of unique bath books for babies and toddlers that have so many different designs and fun features.

We’ve compiled some of the best down below. Check out all the amazingly fun books your children could be enjoying in the bath.

Top 10 Bath Books For Babies and Toddlers

A bath time book for you little ones should always be

  1. Rip proof
  2. Chew proof
  3. And, of course, waterproof

Baby books that are made for the bath are always made with nontoxic materials that don’t wear down when wet. These books are usually made with a smooth, flexible plastic material that doesn’t absorb water.

They are also soft, so you don’t need to worry about these books hurting your baby. There are many bath time books for kids on the market, so I tried to review the best ones with the most unique aspects to keep your kids excited during bath time, beach time, or any time!

#1 The Rainbow Fish Bath Book

The Rainbow Fish Bath Book

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister is first on my list for obvious reasons. Reading this book as a child was one of my favorite things to do. I loved reading as a child, but back then they didn’t have this book in bath book style. Hard cover books are the best anyways.

However, this as a bath book means that you have the opportunity to make this book part of your child’s memories at a very young age. Just looking at this book brings happiness, and that’s exactly how your baby or toddler will feel when looking at it.

Please keep in mind that this isn’t the original story – it’s only three squishy pages long and the fish isn’t as sparkly as it is in the original. That’s to be expected though, because this is a bath book for small children.

#2 TeyToy: My First Soft Book

teytoy My First Soft Book, 6 PCS Nontoxic Fabric Baby Cloth Activity Crinkle Soft Black and White Books for Infants Boys and Girls Early Educational Toys Perfect for Baby Shower

What’s great about these bath books is that they are high contrast – black and white – soft and flexible books. The black and white illustrations make it easy for babies and toddlers to view each image. Experiencing bold black-and-white contrast helps stimulate development in the retina and the optic nerve at a young age.

What’s also great about these books is the soft, smooth fabric they’re made from. These aren’t your typical bath books. They can be used as regular baby books due to their soft flexible pages. They also feature the crinkle sound that most baby books have. I think I love that feature more than my own kids do. It’s a nice stress reliever.

This set comes with 6 books that vary from learning about fruit, animals, shapes, the alphabet, vehicles, and even insects.

#3 Color Me: Who’s in the Water?

Color Me: Who's in the Water?: Watch Me Change Colour In Water (Volume 4) (Wee Gallery Bath Books)

These Color Me bath books are so fascinating and prove to be so much fun for the children. It really doesn’t matter what age your child is, they will enjoy these books. The unique part of these bath books is the fact that they become colored in when placed in water.

They come completely colorless, with only black and white illustrations. Once you place them in the water, the water colors come to life, and they are really gorgeous colors. Your little ones will love playing with these books, no doubt about that!

If your child is a bit creative, let them color the pages with their wet fingers to slowly bring out the vibrant colors. Once you’re done with the bath, allow the book to dry overnight, and the colors will magically disappear by morning.

#4 Melissa & Doug Children’s Book – Float-Alongs

Melissa & Doug Children's Book - Float-Alongs: Three Little Duckies (Bath Book + 3 Floating Duck Toys)

Melissa & Doug continue to earn my recommendations for baby products. My kids love them and so do I. So, here they are again winning with their bath books. First of all their bath books are so adorable and extremely sturdy.

They also come with bath toys – 3 cute little floating ducks that your children can play with. The pages are vibrant and the illustrations are really wonderful. I have another set of Float-Alongs and they have held up great in the tub. You’ll definitely be pleased with this bath book.

Animals in the Water (My First Noisy Bath Books)

#7 The Pigeon Needs a Bath Book!

The Pigeon Needs a Bath Book!

Another one of my favorites! My kids also enjoy these Pigeon books by Mo Willems. They are witty and so much fun for the tots. I have most of the hard covers in this collection so I had to purchase the bath book, and I’m so glad I did!

This is just the most adorable book about a stubborn pigeon who does not want to take a bath. If you’ve got children at home who sometimes don’t feel like having a bath, this is the book to pull out. It reminds them how great a bath can be, especially when you’re as dirty as the pigeon in this book!

Here’s another (small) set of bath books for your tots. What’s unique about these waterproof books is that they are circular – not just square! Kids love when you give them something new and different, and that’s exactly what these round books do!

They’ve also got lovely pictures on them that are colorful and fun to look at. Your infant will enjoy spending time in the bathtub with these color filled pages.

If you, or your babies love watching Sesame Street then these books are a must have. The set includes three lovely books that feature Elmo and Abby having fun in the water. If this doesn’t get your child excited, I don’t know what else will!

#10 CoComelon Bath Time!

CoComelon Bath Time! Children's Finger Puppet Board Book Ages 0-4

Last on our list is a CoComelon book for babies and toddlers about proper hygiene and the importance of taking a bath. This is not waterproof, and it isn’t a bath book. It’s actually a baby book with thick, sturdy pages that your infant can’t break.

It’s also a finger puppet book with J.J. on every page. You can place your fingers inside and make J.J. move while you read the book to your toddlers. It’s a cute, fun book that will encourage your tots to get inside the bathtub and get clean! Sometimes you need an extra hand to get those tiny ones to take a bath.

Conclusion
