Plastic Ware

Get some containers of different shapes and sizes. Get your kid to try filling them up with water. You can also get them to guess how many of a smaller container would fill up a bigger one. Alternatively, how many smaller ones a big one would be able to fill. This could also be a time for a little arithmetic. Your child might just be able to do some calculus by the time they’re in play class (just kidding). When they fill up a container, then let them pour the water on their bodies. Now, they’re helping you do some of the work.

The Floating Game

The floating game is quite simple. You don’t have to wait until your child is grown. Once they can say a few words you will be able to play the floating game. Just pick an object and ask them if they think the object will float or sink. They can reply with ‘float’ or ‘sink.’ So you have to demonstrate to them what float and sink mean and probably learn for yourself why items do one or the other. You may have to play this a few times before they finally get the hang of the game so be a little patient. You should try new objects from time to time.

Join Them In The Bath

Let them know you share their terrible plight with them. Join them in the bathtub. Though, before you join them you should have taken a bath yourself. So you’re not actually getting one yourself. You will only be doing this to encourage them. You should hug them and talk to them a lot. Play some water splashing games and probably try role play. Peek-a-boo is also a fun game you could try. A lot of kids love it. Ensure to keep things light and fun. Let them feel free to play with you. You’re just another kid in the tub, now.

Role Play

You could try role play with your child and let them be the mother. Once your child is old enough to understand the game, let them be the mom. Let them pour the water on you, give them the sponge, extend your arms and make funny faces. The same way they do when you bath them. This can be very enjoyable to the child and they tend to bond faster as you let them get closer to you. Children want to do what you do so let them know they can play with you. There’s no harm in switching it up every once in a while.

Get Creative – Change The Color of The Water

Surprise your child and make the water green. Let them pretend to be an alligator. Make it blue and let them pretend to be a fish. Change the color of the water and get them overzealous and screaming. This can be very fun and interesting as you can get them guessing what color the water is going to be. Maybe even their favorite color. Though you should be careful with the number of products you can use. Make use of a product that is safe. There’s no need to do this for an infant, as they won’t even know what you’re doing.

Let Them Draw

You can get some soap crayons that are safe to use on the bathtub walls and do some artwork in the bathroom. There are also roll-on soaps they can draw on themselves with, and get clean at the same time. Draw a funny face and get them to try it out themselves. Give them the crayon and see what they draw. You might actually unveil the next Picasso (just kidding). You should be careful though, if they smuggle one out of the bathroom, your house might become their canvass. So, ensure to take away the crayons when bath time is over and keep them in a safe place where your kid can’t reach them.

Play A Game Of Rewards

If you’re feeling a bit tired to play a game you could play the simplest game, a game of rewards. You don’t have to do much. You simply tell your kid that if they behave well, they get a reward. You may choose to let them know what the reward will be or you could leave it as a surprise. So, when you wash their head, you let them have one toy. When you wash their legs you give them another toy. When you finish bathing them, you give them a snack. Kids tend to be eager when they know there’s something to be gained. But the reward must be something they like.

Play ‘Find The Soap’

You could play ‘find the soap.’ When the lather gathers hide the soap in the bath and have them search for it. This only works for older kids though. Get them to close their eyes before hiding it. You could also leave your hand in the tub and move the soap about to make for more of a challenge. Alternatively, you could hide it out of the tub and get them to search in the water. Then surprise them with a ‘voila.’ Keep it light though and observe if they are enjoying it. You could also make some bubbles but make sure the soap is okay for the tub.

Get Some Floating Pals

There are a variety of floaty-friends you can get for your child. Ask them what their favorite animals are and get them floating rubber toys. Next time you give them a bath, surprise them with a colorful set of floaties. You should get at least three so they have a few to play around with. You could also let them continue to play with their toys for a while after bathing them. This allows them to get attached to the toys and crave bath time. So it is important to let your child play with those toys only while they are in the bath.

Do Some Crazy Hair

First, you should have a child-safe mirror they can use to look at the new hairdo you conjure up. Talk to them while you style their hair and then show it to them in the mirror. You can also try making faces in the mirror to show approval or disapproval of the hair. Ensure to keep it fun and light. You can also let them do your hair if you’re in the tub with them. Children love trying things out themselves. This is also a great way to improve your child’s self-esteem. They will love it if you allow them to play with your hair. So, give it a try and see if they like it.
